Author Interview: Deborah Hopkinson

Deborah Hopkinson writes great children’s books! I was amazed by the vast number (over 40) of picture books and chapter books she has written.

All her books are well-researched nonfiction or historical fiction stories about a wide variety of subjects from the famous scientist & explorer Charles Darwin to the less-famous, but equally interesting female baseball player & doctor, Alta Weiss. I look forward to reading more of Deborah Hopkinson’s fascinating books with my own children and hope you enjoy her equally fascinating interview about the importance of words.

My favorite quote from the interview:

Words bring us to story and they bring us to those  parts of the human experience that we come back to again and again in times of joy and in times of sadness.
