Have you seen my Vocab Land Game Board? Out of all of the amazing creations the graphics team has come up with based on my simple, typed ideas, it is my absolute favorite. However, I have a feeling that my students, and your students, can come up with equally awesome vocabulary game board designs if given a chance. That is why this week, instead of presenting you and your students with a fully finished vocabulary game board that only needs to have the vocabulary words filled in, I offer instead a blank template for students to create their own vocabulary game, including a theme, name, and rules.
I might suggest that you ask students to use at least twenty words in the creation of their vocabulary game – from the name itself to the various design elements, game board pieces, and directions.
I would give students at least a week to create their games and award prizes for most creative, best adherence to a theme, most unique, most literary connections, etc.
