Snow Day Details Vocabulary Activity, Grades 1–8

Last year when many of us were experiencing severe "Polar Vortex" storms, I shared a simple writing activity where students describe their ideal snow day using vocabulary words.

With students on winter break, now is the perfect time to download this vocabulary activity template for your classroom. At the start of semester, you can kickoff vocabulary instruction by asking students to write about their favorite holiday-break activity using vocabulary words! You can also use this vocabulary exercise throughout the semester when students return back to the classroom after a snow day.

Directions: Imagine you suddenly have a snow day and cannot be at school. What would your day look like?  Would you frolic in the snow or stay inside with a mug of hot chocolate; would you build a snowman or finally finish a few books? Describe your day using at least 6 vocabulary words in your answer.
