The month of March not only welcomes changing temperatures, spring break vacations, and college basketball tournaments, but also St. Patrick's Day! Inspired by St. Patrick's Day, last year I created a simple parts of speech review game for students. Today I'm sharing the parts of speech review game again for any readers that may have missed it.
The Shamrock Memory Card Game is a fun, relatively quick game that will help students review the parts of speech!
How it works:
Display the 48 cards face down in six rows of eight cards.
Have students play individually or in two small groups.
Choose who will go first. The first person or group will turn one card face-up. They will either see the part of speech or an example of that part of speech. Then they will turn over a second card. For example, if a student turns over the card with “noun” on it and then turns over the word “leprechaun” then the cards match. If the cards match, the student(s) gets to go again.
A students turn is up when they miss matching two cards.
The student or group with the most “pair” of cards at the end wins the round.
