With an 11 and 9-year-old at home, board games are a great way to spend a weekend evening. Knowing how much we enjoy playing board games at home, I began to wonder about using board games in an academic manner in the classroom.
Who wouldn’t like to play Grammar Land in the classroom!? Grammar Land, similar to Hasbro® Candy Land™, is a captivating game that's guaranteed to get students excited about grammar instruction. With the Grammar Land Game Board students will:
Expand their knowledge of parts of speech and language usage
Learn different grammar combinations while having fun with classmates
Develop strong understandings of grammar expectations through multiple exposures
If you have a laminator, I suggest you print and laminate 8-10 boards for your classroom and purchase some Dry Erase® markers and erasers. This will keep your Grammar Land game boards nice throughout the school year!
I am interested to hear how this grammar game works in your classroom! If you don’t have dice or a timer, you can find them on Google Chrome and various free apps for virtual dice rolling and timing. If you have a whiteboard, the same options are available.
